Fort Worth’s brewery and bar scene are a veritable playground for trivia geeks, board game aficionados and Bingo buffs. Games are always more fun in the welcome company of locals and attentive wait staff. If you’re looking for fun outing ideas, keep these groups and venues in mind.


The Collective Brewing Project

Artisan sours and well-curated game nights under one roof? Yes, this Near Southside Brewpub has Willie Wonka-levels of fun in store for you. Every third Thursday, Collective Brewing hosts Spell it Out! The adult spelling bee’s motto is, “Team Up, Spell For Points, Achieve Spelling Glory.”

Each Friday, Collective Brewing hosts Funkytown Putting Project. The staff pulls out baskets and the inside of the brewery transforms into an impromptu disc golf course. Follow Collective Brewing’s Facebook event page for more details.

 


Taps and Cap Fort Worth

Every Tuesday, Taps and Caps Fort Worth hosts Geeks Who Drink. The trivia mavens have rotating topics that’ll keep you on your feet (’80s pop culture, movie trivia, world history). I can personally vouch for these events. The taproom is generally packed, so show up early (before 7 p.m.).  

 

Craftcade Pinball Bar

Every Wednesday at 9 p.m., Nick McClanahan (known to a handful of locals as the “King-O-Bingo”) leads a lively round of Bingo at Craftcade Pinball Bar. I’m not sure if it’s the vintage Bingo boards —some date back to the Eisenhower administration— or McClanahan’s off-color humor, but the events are always a blast. Plus, winners get a free drink at the bar. My first time out, I had two free post-victory beers. Not bad for a free event.
 

 

HopFusion Ale Works

On alternating Sundays, The Near Southside’s “feistiest” brewery hosts local beer personality Ice Cole. You can catch Cole, his trademark craft trivia and his awkwardly cut jean shorts twice a month. The stakes are high. Only one winner will be crowned and sent home with a case of HopFusion brews.

 

Flying Saucer Fort Worth

Fort Worth’s venerable Flying Saucer hosts Saucer Game Night every Wednesday. The evenings feature a Nintendo Wii plus assorted board and card games.

 

Game Theory

Later this spring, Fort Worth will gain its first board game lounge when Game Theory comes to South Main Village. New and vintage games, cocktails and meat pie-centric dining round out what you can expect.
