One thing you can always count on in Texas - the summer is HOT! With 100-degree-plus days, stay cool outdoors in the water. In Fort Worth, you can head to the public pool with on-premise lifeguards, aquatic features, splash pads, or waterways like the lake or the river for just a few dollars.
Kids love to go wild at the zoo, so cool them off at the 14,000 sq. ft. Safari Splash! Admission can be purchased along with your zoo ticket for just an additional $5, children can enjoy four water slides, a water dump tower, or fill up their own water toys, animal-shaped water cannons, and a designated toddler play area all while the parents relax nearby in a shaded lounge chair.
The newest public pool in Fort Worth, the Marine Park Pool is full of fun amenities for the whole family including its interactive play structure complete with water cannons, a slide, and a tipping bucket. Serious swimmers can also find refuge in designated lap lanes for exercise. Need to take a break from the water? There are multiple shaded structures, plenty of seating, and a 3,200 sq. ft bath house with plenty of changing spaces and lockers.
The historic Forest Park Pool originally opened in 1922. Families can enjoy multiple small water slides, a diving board, three lap lanes, and shade areas. There’s also a wading area for small children. Improvements are also in bloom, with a whole new Forest Park Pool being planned with eight 50-meter lanes, a bathhouse, leisure pool, and play features.
Looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon with a toddler? JUST. ADD. WATER. If your kiddos aren’t quite ready for the pool, but still want someplace to splash around and cool off, the Sycamore Spray Ground is waiting for you. Note: proper swimwear is required so make sure to come ready to play (and remember the cement gets hot, too, so water shoes are recommended, too.)
There’s nothin’ more summer fun than a day at Burger Lake! Featuring a huge spring-fed lake, two sandy beaches, six diving boards, a 20 ft. slide, a 25 ft. trapeze (yes, a trapeze), and tons of shady spots, there’s so much to do at this 30-acre park. Admission is $15 per person, regardless of age.
Right in the middle of Fort Worth, water seekers will find Panther Island Pavilion which sits directly next to the Trinity River. Belly up to the beach or choose from paddleboard rentals, boat tours, or kayak launches. Multiple events are hosted throughout the year, but during the summer, be prepared for “Rockin’ the River,” a unique party with live Texas country music, food and drinks, and more fun.
You don't have to go to the ocean to have a beach day! Twin Points Park, located 15 miles North of downtown on Eagle Mountain Lake, includes a family-friendly swim beach that is open 10am – 8pm from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Beyond swimming, all beach activities can be enjoyed at the park, including sandcastle building, volleyball, and paddleboarding. Passes are $10 per car Monday–Thursday and $20 per car Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
