Face coverings are required in Fort Worth until December 1. Check out these local shops where masking is a breeze.
Double R Brand
We love a good story about a business pivoting to meet the needs of its customers, and the Double R at the Shops at Clearfork has added masks to their clothing lineup. You can choose from a variety of their bespoke fabrics, and the double-layer masks may include your monogram if you want. They also have a plain white water-repellent mask. A portion of the proceeds of the mask you purchase goes to the North Texas Food Bank.
Fort Worth Locals
When Fort Worth Locals began as a blog to showcase the Fort in 2014, nobody had any idea that they’d be making masks with their noticeable logos on the front six years later. As a bonus, these two-ply masks are part REPT polyester, made from recycled plastic.
Franklin & Anthony
The versatile aesthetics of a bespoke suit crafted by guys who are not afraid of colors, patterns or textures are spectacular. It stands to reason that the masks would be just as stunning and vivid. From colorful options for kids to a multi-layer mask that will minimize the fogging of your glasses, the selection is as interesting as the choices of material for your suit.
Gifted
This store is home to some of those amazing, one-of-a-kind finds –– which is not a surprise, because Gifted is located in The Foundry District which is itself a place to find unique and amazing things and experiences. There are only two styles of mask here (adult or child), but they’re hand-dyed with a pocket to add a filter if you’d like. The brick-and-mortar store is closed but you can order online.
Hale House
Arguably Hale House has the best selection of unusual masks, and there’s one for every mood. Whether you like sequins, denim, a shiny mermaid pattern, floral, leopard print or gingham, you’ll find something here. You can also get a mask chain, which is critical for keeping your mask clean when you take a mask break!
JuJu Knits
This is a yarn-and-more store, and owner Julie Fairley carries a little of everything – which now means masks by Que Chula Handmade Goods. Julie says “the unique cup-like pattern allows for a more breathable and less constricting mask that puckers to your cheeks with a comfy cinch.” One business helping another business – that’s what Fort Worth is really about!
Lazy J Ranch Wear
In the Fort Worth Stockyards, the wide open areas may provide a mask break, but masks are required indoors and in crowds. The Lazy J has a small assortment of masks to go along with their hoodies, ball caps and a bunch of fabulous and functional ladies’ clothing.
Mener Grand Train Co
Here’s another clothier pivoting from crafting bespoke, hand-made mens’ clothing into mask-making. The masks here are 100% thick cotton canvas, and extremely durable. We love these because they tie at the back, which creates less pressure and irritation on the backs of your ears if you have to wear a mask most of the day.
Morgan Mercantile
Whether you want to buy fun fashion, original merch from Morgan Mercantile’s in-house label Panther City Provisions, or a candle where part of the proceeds benefit the rescue organization Traffick911, this is a good place to shop. The dual layer logo masks are printed in Fort Worth, and two of the three designs are made with rip stop material on the outside for a little more protection.
National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
If you feel like going old school, you can make your own mask with the classic bandannas from the Cowgirl Museum’s gift shop. Can’t sew (or don’t want to)? Fold the bandanna in three and you’ve got an original Western mask. The Desert Rose logo, available in several colors, was designed specifically for the museum, and proceeds from the bandanna sales help fund the exhibits.
Three Boutique
Three Boutique is exactly what the name insinuates: a boutique that is a three-in-one art store, clothing boutique and tchotchkes shop. Plus you can buy adorable and unique masks, with a pucker exactly where your lips are. These are definitely conversation starters!
Printed Threads
Local merchandising company Printed Threads sells a variety of mask online available in eight different colors and packs of 1, 3 and 20.
Tribe Alive
The storefront of this Main Street shop with sustainable, fair-wage garments may be closed, but you can still order some of their beautiful cotton masks online. The double-layered masks, made from their clothing fabric remnants and sewn in Guatemala, are 100% cotton.
