The Fort Worth Zoo is the oldest in Texas and consistently ranks among the top zoos in the United States. With hundreds of species and habitats, it’s a standout destination for anyone interested in wildlife. Here’s what to know before you visit this family-friendly Fort Worth attraction.

Zoo Tickets, Maps, and Parking
Visitors can pay for Fort Worth Zoo tickets either at the gate or in advance online. As of 2025, General Admission for adults is $20, while children between 3 and 12 (and seniors) pay $16 (children under 3 are admitted free of charge).
Strollers, mobile assistance devices, and maps can all be picked up just inside the entry gate. As for parking, the zoo offers an on-site lot and charges a minimal parking fee per vehicle. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a free printed map at the zoo gates, but if you want to plan ahead, you can download a digital version here.
Pro Tip: On Wednesdays, the zoo offers half-price admission for all visitors!
What To See and Do At the Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo is home to over 500 species (including 68 endangered or threatened species), so there’s more than enough to see, do, and explore during your day-long visit!
If you have a taste for adventure, check out the Predators of Asia & Africa exhibit, where you’ll find lions, tigers, leopards, and other apex predators. If monkeys and gorillas are more your speed, the very popular World of Primates offers an up-close view of these intelligent and playful animals, along with other species like orangutans, chimpanzees, and bonobos.
The Museum of Living Art (MOLA) houses exotic reptiles and amphibians in a visually stunning space that highlights the uniqueness of each species. Elephant Springs lets visitors watch as elephants splash and play in pools and waterfalls, and the Texas Wild shows off the impressive array of wild animals that make Texas their home. These are just a few of the exceptional exhibits available at the Fort Worth Zoo.
If you’re visiting with kids (especially on a hot summer day), be sure to swing by Safari Splash, a 14,000-square-foot water playscape with a splash pad, water slides, toy stations, and more!
Where To Eat, Drink, and Shop At The Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo’s food choices include several quick-and-easy snack stands throughout the property that serve burgers, ice cream, hot dogs, and other on-the-go bites. There are also a handful of larger food-hall-inspired dining areas, such as the Crocodile Cafe and the Bluebonnet Cafe, along with specialty ice cream parlors and candy shops.
For shopping, the Safari Shop at the park gates offers the largest selection of apparel, toys, games, and other on-theme souvenirs. The smaller Safari Traders kiosk and the Elephant Springs Cart are also convenient options with plenty of unique finds.
Don’t forget to check the Fort Worth Zoo’s calendar for the most up-to-date information about seasonal programming, members-only activities, and other special events!
