Celebrating Record Results
Our community’s tourism results for Fiscal Year 2022, ending September 30, show strong, continued growth in our visitor economy.
A record 10.8 million visitors saw Fort Worth. Direct visitor spending increased 25% for the second consecutive year. And for the first time tourism’s total economic impact exceeded $3 billion. The 30,000 jobs supported by tourism would fill Dickies Arena twice, making hospitality one of our leading industries.
Visitor spending generated $125 million in local tax revenues. Without tourism, the average Fort Worth homeowner would need to pay an additional $709 in property taxes to make up the difference.
Our visitor economy thrives because of three things.
First, our people. It’s the incredibly dedicated workers in our hotels, restaurants and attractions who serve our visitors every day. It’s also the people who make our city so vibrant. The athletes, artists, musicians, chefs, filmmakers and the innovators with strong visions who can see the future forever.
We continue to work across our community to share the Fort Worth welcome with all. From Hispanic Heritage Month and Juneteenth to new music festivals and cowboy gatherings.
Second, we have special places for visitors to discover. There are exciting things happening all over our city for visitors to explore. That includes the Convention Center District, and it’s time we give this front door for our city a facelift to show our guests the Fort Worth we are today. The District is bounded by the new Texas A&M Fort Worth Campus, the Water Gardens, a growing number of hotels and the Main Street gateway to Sundance Square.
Finally we have the experiences to capture visitors’ imagination, from festivals celebrating music and food and wine to thrilling sports events at Dickies Arena. It happens to our convention customers. When they visit our city they are three times more likely to book business here.
People, Places, Experiences. It’s the energy created when we all work together to share the welcome, to help visitors discover an unexpected city.
